About Me

Hi! I am Hsiaolin Wang and Welcome to Yogini's Closet.

I started the yoga journey in 2010, five years into my career. I was looking to balance a gruesome work schedule with some form of stress relief. I found a studio on my way home from work and started taking classes three days a week. Inspired by the teaching technique of my first teacher Noell Clark, I decided to follow her footsteps and became a yoga teacher couple years later.

In 2015, I discovered Mysore style Ashtanga yoga and was attracted by the self practice and individualistic teaching method. I have become a dedicated Ashtangi since then. I took Ashtanga 100 Hour Intensive with Erika Abrahamian and apprenticeship with Mojdeh Zahiraleslamzadeh. I also practiced Mysore and took workshops with a number of senior teachers including Atsuro Chiba, Harmony Slator, Kino MacGregor and Laruga Glaser. To me, yoga is a lifelong practice. I continue learning not only to deepen my own practice, but also to expand my knowledge.

I believe in progressing with discipline and consistency. I emphasize building a strong foundation in asana practice. My focuses as a teacher, besides helping students progress, are to provide a safe space, pass on my knowledge, and share personal experience in class.

So... what got me started this blog? When shopping for yoga clothes, I spend most of my effort deciding the right size and researching the style in a fabric that suits my need. Well-known brands like Athleta, Lucy and Lululemon have retail stores across the country. It is easy to test the fit, see the style, and feel the fabric in person. What about brands that only have online store? Sometimes I go with trusted brands.  Sometimes I find a gem from a new brand. And there are times the clothes just not working out for me. I want to use this blog to share my yoga wear. Teaching is one way to share my passion in yoga, and Yogini's Closet is the other.
