Alo Yoga Tech Lift Airbrush Legging in Mineral Review

PROS / Alo Yoga Tech Lift Airbrush legging is made with super soft and silky fabric, featuring four-way stretch, antimicrobial and moisture wicking. It is one of the best "ease of movement" leggings I've tried.

CONS / The waistband does not stay up throughout my yoga practice. I am glad that it's a high rise legging or I would be flashing my underwear in the class. The legging doesn't provide the best lift nor does it complement my body curvatures. I am a little disappointed by its product description, Tech Lift.

BOTTOM LINE / It is a high quality performance legging made with the second-skin feel fabric. It keeps everything tucked without feeling constricted. But, it doesn't worth $124 in my opinion.

About Alo Yoga

I've given brief introduction of Alo Yoga in my previous post. So what else we should know about the brand? Alo Yoga largely caters to Millennials and it's popular among celebrities like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner. The company is growing fast and opened two stores in the past year. In April 2016, Alo Yoga opened the first 7,000 square foot flagship store in Beverly Hills, CA. On Feb 3rd, 2017 (10 months after the first store was opened), the second 6,600 square foot store was opened in downtown Santa Monica, CA.

​In the last few years, I've seen lots of design changes in Alo Yoga clothes. The company starts to incorporate the contemporary street style into activewear. The Ripped Warrior Legging and Moto legging are the two perfect examples of Alo Yoga bringing street style to the studio. These leggings are designed to be worn on and off the mat.

Alo Yoga Tech Lift Airbrush Legging in Mineral UNFOLD - 

The Tech Lift Airbrush is a new addition to the Airbrush family in Spring 2017. I was so excited when seeing the "Tech Lift" feature in Mineral pattern online. I couldn't wait to try it on. My order came couple weeks ago and here is my review of the Tech Lift Airbrush Legging.

​1. Size –  True to size, XS.

2. Style – ​​Full length legging.

3. Inseam – 29.5", which is longer than I like, but I can wear it over the heels.

4. Front Rise – 10" high rise that keeps everything tucked.

5. Waistband – 3.25” standard waistband. Since it's a high rise legging, the standard waistband gives enough support and coverage. The only issue I have is that the waistband does not stay up throughout my practice.

​6. Fabric – 84% Polyester, 16% Spandex. It is super soft and silky fabric. There is almost no traction between my skin and the pant.

7. Design for – Heated, non-heated yoga and any other gym workouts.​

8. ​Cost – $124, which costs a lot more than an regular Airbrush Legging ($78-$88).

9. Stitch Seam – Comfortable flat locking seams.

​10. Crotch Seam​ – Lined triangle gusset. ​

​By the way, the legging comes with a hidden key pocket. It is convenient for those who don't know where to put the studio or gym membership card. You can also put a credit card in it.

The Mineral pattern is very pretty.

The only complaint I have is that the Alo Yoga Tech Lift legging is not as flattering as other yoga pants I have. You can see the comparison in the pictures below. Niyama Sol Barefoot Legging (right) gives much better lift than Alo Yoga Tech Lift Legging (left). While most of the yoga pants lift the butt, the Alo Yoga Tech Lift Legging flattens it.

​Overall, I am happy with the performance of the Alo Yoga Tech Lift Legging. It meet my expectations of what a yoga pant should be, ease of movement, good breathability, moisture wicking and comfortable fit. The legging is  made with super soft and silky fabric. There is almost no traction between my skin and the pant. When doing Bakasana (Crow) and Titibasana (Firefly) poses, my legs almost slide off my arms. Well, I guess I have to work on improving my strength instead of relying on the traction of the pants to hold the poses.

Additional Review - Alo Yoga Patina Bra Tank in Black/Buff 

When I order the Tech Lift Airbrush Legging, I also added the Patina Bra Tank to the shopping cart. Since majority of my yoga pants are colorful, I usually wear solid color tops to pair with. I like how simply but not boring the Patina Bra Tank is. It is a solid black tank with a little twist, laser cut detail, on the back. The tank comes with removable pads. I wear size XS. Overall, it fits me well. The only problem I have is the straps being too long. I need to pull the straps up every now and then during my practice.
