Overall Rating - 9.7 / 10PROS / Athleta Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight is made with buttery soft Powervita fabric. It is four-way stretch, breathable and moisture wicking. The high waist provides excellent support and coverage for the midsection, and the legging creates a leggy look. CONS / I find the legging doesn't keep me stay cool during workout including yoga. The fabric is heavier weight than my preference. BOTTOM LINE / Athleta Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight is a classic, must have legging. Other than the fact that it doesn't help me stay cool, it covers most needs for yoga and gym workouts. The stripe gives a flattering fit and the high waist keeps everything tucked in.
I have reviewed as many Athleta leggings as Lululemon ones; therefore, I will skip the brand introduction today. Details of Athleta Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight -When I shared Athleta Elation Glades 7/8 Tight few weeks ago, I mentioned that I've purchased three pairs of Athleta leggings this Fall. Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight is one of them. In fact, I recently added two more pairs to my closet. They are too cute to resist. Top: Lululemon Twist & Train Bra, Black, Size 4 (true to size). Bottom: Athleta Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight, Black, Petite XS (true to size). Athleta makes classic stripe tights every season. The material, fit, quality and performance only get better each year. I own an old Chaturanga Tight (~ 5 year old), which isn't very durable. The material is thin and I start to see pilling after owning it for a year or so. Noticing the improvement of the fabric in recent years, I expect their new tights to be long lasting. That said, the price has gone up as well. The pattern of Athleta Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight is pretty much identical to Athleta High Rise Stripe Chaturanga Tight released in 2017 F/W. For that reason, I didn't plan to purchase Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight when I first saw it online. I soon changed my mind after trying it on in store. Although both are stripe tights, their fabrics and constructions are quite different. Let's take a close look of Athleta Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight. and see how different or similar it is compared to previously released Stripe Chaturanga Tight.
The legging is made in Vietnam. Just like previously shared Athleta High Rise Stripe Chaturanga Tight, there is a stash pocket on the waistband (right side at front). Performance - Athleta Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight is made with one of my favorite fabrics from Athleta, Powervita. It is buttery soft, different to the cottony soft fabric used for High Rise Stripe Chaturanga Tight. Even though textures are different, both fabrics are four-way stretch, breathable, moisture wicking and fast dry. The material is medium high compression. It gives muscles support for high impact workouts without feeling restricted for yoga. As much as I like Powervita, it lacks of cooling effect for heated yoga and sweaty workouts, which isn't the case with Laser Cut Salutation Tight (same fabric). The fabric of Athleta Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight seems to be thicker and I find it too warm for most activities I do. Quality - It is constructed with flatlocking seams and the gusset is lined. Unlike High Rise Stripe Chaturanga Tight, there is no side seam (outer seam) on Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight. One thing I notice is that stripes don't line up well. As you can see in the pictures below, there is more black color stripe at the bottom of my right leg than the left one. It is minor, but it could have been avoided with better quality control in my opinion. Fit - Have I mentioned how much I appreciate Athleta manufacturing petite sizes? It makes the legging fits like how it is supposed to be instead of having extra fabric gathering at the ankle. Athleta Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight is true to size and I wear a Petite XS. I like the horizontal stripe as it creates a slim and leggy look. The legging also lifts and shapes the butt nicely. The waistband sits at my natural waist, right below the navel. Even though there is an encased elastic band, it is pinch-free, and it hides the muffin top well. Comfort - I like how soft Powervita fabric is. Although it is not quite the same as Lululemon Nulu next-to-nothing sensation, it is very close to it. The material is thicker and warmer than what I like to wear for exercising, but it is for sure a cozy piece. It keeps me warm in the cold weather. What amazes me the most is the pinch free waistband. Being a fan of the flat waist, I actually don't mind its elastic band. I highly recommend Athleta Elation Virasana Stripe 7/8 Tight, especially if you haven't owned a pair of stripe legging already. It is made with buttery soft Powervita fabric, which is four-way stretch, breathable and moisture wicking. The waistband sits right on my natural waist, provides excellent coverage and hides the muffin top. Most importantly, it gives a slim look. While I like most aspects of it, the tight is slightly too warm for my sweaty workout including Mysore style yoga practice. Related Reviews -
