Overall Rating - 9.8 / 10
PROS / Constantly Varied Gear Sangria Legging offers everything I need at the gym. The high compression fabric provides tons of muscles support, no jiggly thighs and butts when jumping. The high waistband offers great coverage and keeps the belly tucked in. Two large side pockets are the most thoughtful design and they fit all my essentials including an iPhone 8 plus.
CONS / The color is pretty; however, it doesn't completely mask sweat stains. It wasn't bad after my workout, but I saw few spots along hip creases (barely noticeable). Due to the high compression fabric, I don't recommend it for yoga.
BOTTOM LINE / Constantly Varied Gear Sangria Legging is my new favorite workout pant. The color is super cute and it covers all performance needs for HIIT, Tababa and more. The high compression fabric with additional side seams tightly hug the body in and well support muscles during my workout. There is nothing I dislike the legging other than it being a tad too long.
Disclaimer: The outfit was gifted to me, but the review is my own.
About Constantly Varied Gear (CVG) -
Founded by Mark Arruda in 2014, Constantly Varied Gear (CVG) is a family owned business based in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The company started by pressing shirts in their basement. Today, they expand products to activewear including leggings, sports bras and tanks/tees for women as well as unisex clothes for men. In addition to the apparel business, CVG share workout and diet tips from correction, motivation to support, anything in the realm of fitness on their Facebook group. That's not all. They offer online training, which includes TTSL Daily, TTSL E-Book and Free Workouts. All levels are welcome to the training.
* TTSL stands for Thick Thighs Save Lives.
It is a workout program sent out weekly. It has built in strength and specialty cycles similar to having a personal trainer. Free weekly workouts are also released on Facebook group as well as YouTube channel.
It is a 30-45 day program of workouts. Each workout has a warm up, strength, metcon and cool down, similar to a basic CrossFit box format. The program costs $49.99 (one time purchase fee).
* Metcon, metabolic conditioning, is a style of workout involving repeated and / or sustained high intensity exercises, usually involving weight lifting movements, with short rest periods in order to burn fat or create a "conditioning" effect.
The company's latest project is Thick Thighs Save Lives Podcast. A new episode is released each week. They cover topics related to health, diet and workout tips in addition to questions their customers ask about. Since I am only on the episode 3, I am not able to provide insightful feedback. That said, they seem to cover lots of great topics that have bothered and negatively impacted women's life, such as the self body image and over obsession of body weight.
CVG does a lot of content. They genuinely care about their customers and want them to become the best version of themselves. One of their missions is to bring women to the gym, to make women healthy, most importantly, to make women feel great about themselves.
Details of CVG Sangria Leggings -
Top: CVG Sangra Sports Bra, S (true to size; I am between 32-34B).
Bottom: CVG Sangria Leggings, XS full length (true to size).
I couldn't be happier when CVG reached out to me last month for collaboration. Their products are highly rated with hundreds of five star ratings from customers. Their clothes are designed for gym workout. Although my primary movement (I don't like to call yoga as a workout because the true definition of yoga isn't) is yoga, I work out too or I wouldn't be sharing kettlebell yoga last week. I don't think I've ever shared workout pants and this would be the first.
CVG sent me their latest and greatest leggings, Sangria Leggings along with the matching sports bra. I am very pleased with their performance and fit. It is one of the best high impact workout clothes I've ever tried.
The legging is made in China.
CVG Sangria Legging is high compression. It provides tons of muscles support and hugs the body well. It prevents jiggling from jumping and running. The encased elastic waist stays put with the movement. The soft fabric is four-way stretch, breathable and moisture wicking, basically everything I need for working out. The fabric feels quite similar to Lululemon Full-On Luxtreme, but it's only half the price. To be nitpicking, the legging shows minor sweat stains, which is unavoidable for a non-black plain legging. I noticed few wet spots along hip creases after the HIIT class.
The legging is well made with the soft fabric, flatlocking seams and a lined gusset. It is squat proof. Before trying it on, I thought it would show panty lines, but it doesn't. I didn't even wear a seamless underwear when shooting these photos. I am surprised and impressed by how well it banishes panty lines. I have to look very closely in the bottom left picture when doing the kettlebell swing and my glutes are engaged in order to see the lines.
I suggest to wash the outfit with clothes in similar and / or dark colors to prevent dye transfer stains. I notice red stains on clothing wash tags, which could be coming from the very first wash but I am not going to risk it.
It is true to size. I wear an XS. For you reference, I am Lululemon size 4. The legging is super flattering. Not only does it create a leggy look, but it also lifts and shapes all the right places of the body. The high waistband keeps my belly tucked in and hides the muffin top. Sangria Leggings are available in two lengths, capri and full length. I wear the full length, and it is too long for my height (5'2"). I wish they come with 7/8 or sneaker length.
It is worth mentioning that CVG carries leggings for women of all sizes. The size of Sangria Leggings ranges from XS up to 2XL.
Despite of the high compression fabric, extra seams on the outer legs and elastic waistband (all of which tend to make leggings too snug and irritative), CVG Sangria Legging is very comfortable. It makes me feel supported. Imagine having a weighted blanket on, the feeling of being hugged and wrapped in a cocoon. My concerns of the elastic band digging into the skin and excess seams along outer thighs being irritate were unnecessary because I can't even feel their presence.
About CVG Sangria Sports Bra -
The design on the back is super cute. Unlike many strappy sports bras that dig / pinch the skin, CVG Sangria Sports Bra is comfortable yet providing tons of support for high impact workouts. Size small is a perfect fit for me. The sports bra is available from size S to XXL. If you are size XS (< 32" chest), it may be too loose. The sports bra comes with a pair of removable padding, which is a must for the coverage and support needed for the workout.
Looking for gym workout clothes? I highly recommend CVG Sangria Legging & Sports Bra.
Ever since I received the outfit from CVG, I have been wearing it to the gym every week. I've received many compliments from friends. It's so hard to capture the actual color of the outfit, but the red is pretty. The legging is flattering. It sculpts my body very well. The silky soft fabric is four-way stretch, breathable and sweat wicking. It is high compression; therefore, I recommend it for gym workouts rather than yoga. The large (cell phone size) side pockets are convenient to stash essentials. If I have to nitpick, the legging shows some sweat stains, which is unavoidable for plain leggings. Also, the full length legging is too long with extra fabric gathering at the ankle.
