Budget Stretching Pants Series - 90 Degree by Reflex Star Printed High Waist Ankle Legging1/25/2020
PROS / 90 Degree by Reflex Star Printed High Waist Ankle Legging covers most performance needs for yoga. The Interlink fabric is four-way stretch and medium low compression. It is lightweight and breathable, which helps me to stay cool from the sweaty practice. CONS / The legging doesn't give a flattering fit. Not only doesn't it sculpt the butt, but the waistband also digs in to the skin. The fabric does not hide sweat stains. BOTTOM LINE / Unfortunately, 90 Degree by Reflex Star Printed High Waist Ankle Legging doesn't work for me. Although it covers basic needs for yoga, it fall short on the fit and the comfort. The Interlink fabric is four-way stretch and breathable, but it is rougher than most athletic fabrics I've tried (I am used to the silk soft and naked sensentaion materials). Yogini's Chit-Chats -I had a chance to practice with Harmony Slater and Russell Case last Wednesday through Friday. This was my third year attending their Mysore classes. I enjoy practicing with senior teachers because they have so much wisdom to pass on. I've been actively working on two things for quite some time. One is the hip opening for eka pada sirsasana and the other one is to have better awareness and connection with Bandhas, particularly Mula Bandha and Uddiyana Bandha. Being able to access these two Bandhas is the key to do arm balances, to jump back and to jump through, of course, in addition to many other strengths. It would be a lie if I tell you that I never feel frustrated with eka pada sirsasana. It's been two and half years since I was given the pose and I am far from being able to do the full posture. I have an disadvantage in the pose due to my body proportion, short legs and the long torso. My hips have to be more open than people with longer legs. The niggling thought of 'I'd be able to do it if my legs are longer' does come, but I try not to let the thought discourage me. I have no control over my body shape, just like I can't change my race. So, why let the uncontrollable thing take over my life? Isn't that what Santosha (contentment) is about? "Contentment is the ability to live in the present moment." I try my best being in the present moment. I enjoy every bit of the practice and appreciate everything I have. I witness the tiny progress I make everyday. I am grateful to have an able body, a safe place and spare time to be on the mat, to practice. Details of 90 Degree by Reflex Star Printed High Waist Ankle Legging -Top: Yvette Anywhere Criss Cross Sports Bra, Black, S (true to size; I am between 32-34B). Bottom: 90 Degree by Reflex Star Printed High Waist Ankle Legging, Sweet Acai, XS (true to size). 90 Degree by Reflex Star Printed High Waist Ankle Legging is part of the Interlink Collection; however, the fabric is not exactly the same as High Waist Squat Proof Ankle Length Interlink Legging (one of the best selling leggings for the Interlink collection) based on the description online. Since this is my first pair from 90 Degree by Reflex, I don't know how it compares to the best selling Powerflex and Squad Proof Interlink leggings. I would give them a try once they have patterned leggings or I see the color I like. For now, let me share 90 Degree by Reflex Star Printed High Waist Ankle Legging in Sweet Acai Color for this week's Budget Stretching Pants Series.
It is made in China. Performance - 90 Degree by Reflex Star Printed High Waist Ankle Legging covers basic needs for yoga, including four-way stretch and moisture wicking properties. The fabric is loose weave which makes it very breathable. With that being said, its performance is average. All the other leggings I've reviewed for the Budget Stretching Pants Series deliver better performance than this pair. By the way, it shows sweat stains, which is unavoidable for a plain legging. Note: 90 Degree by Reflex Star Printed High Waist Ankle Legging is only available on the brand's official website (not sold on Amazon). Quality - I appreciate that it is stitched with interlock seams to reduce chafing and there is a lined gusset for reinforcement. The loose weave fabric has great breathability and helps stay cool, but it is coarser (rougher) than most athletic fabrics I've tried. I am used to silky soft and naked sensation fabrics, so I don't particularly like this one. Having said that, it is squad proof and silicon printed stars are durable. I don't see any peeling after few washes. There is a stash pocket for your essentials on the waistband. Fit - The legging is true to size. My regular size XS fits just right, but it is not flattering on me. It doesn't shape nor lift the bum. The inseam is perfect for my height; however, it is wrinkly around the ankle due to the loose fit. I like the support from the high waist design, but the encased elastic band digs in to my waist. Though it gives a good coverage, it didn't fully hide the muffin top. Be sure to wear a seamless panty to avoid VPL. Comfort - The medium low compression fabric makes it suitable for casual wear in addition to yoga; however, I don't like how coarse / rough it is. In addition to that, the encased elastic band pinches my waist and makes me feel restricted. Due to the rough fabric and the elastic band design, I don't find it comfortable enough for lounging. Overall, I am not impressed by 90 Degree by Reflex Star Printed High Waist Ankle Legging even though its covers essential needs for yoga. It costs more than previously reviewed Budget Stretching Pants, and it doesn't give a flattering and comfortable fit. The legging doesn't work for me, but it may not be the case for others as we all have different body shapes and different needs for our workouts. More Reviews from Budget Stretching Pants Series -
