PROS / Made with the medium high compression fabric, Yvette Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging is soft, four-way stretch, fast dry and sweat wicking. The high waist provides tons of coverage and support. Furthermore, the legging gives a flattering fit and it is budget friendly. CONS / The legging shows sweat stains. The bonded waistband is on the stiffer side. Although it is fine for high impact workouts, it makes me feel restricted in yoga. BOTTOM LINE / For $22, Yvette Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging covers everything I need for working out, including muscles support. The bonded waistband keeps the tummy tucked in, but it is stiffer than the typical elastic-free waistband. If showing sweat stains bothers you, get a black pair instead. About Yvette - Yvette is an activewear company with an expertise on sports bra. They offer sports bras with various support to target different activities needs. With that said, they also make high performance and budget friendly leggings that I highly recommend. A lot happened in 2019. I got a promotion, a big raise and a new role at work. I completed RYT 300 training and was certified as a RYT 500 yoga instructor. I received the PADI Open Water Dive certification. And, I became a home yoga practitioner as opposed to attending classes at a studio. None of which was in my plan other than taking the RYT 300 course. I don't like to set any new year resolution because I constantly want to improve myself. I am determined and I work hard toward the goal, becoming a better yoga practitioner, a better yoga teacher and a better blogger. One thing happened at the end of 2019 caught me off guard. The studio, Nulife Yoga, where I've taught for over five years was sold to another studio. I was noticed on the X'mas eve. Up till today, I am still in shock. It sucks because I don't have a chance to say goodbye to some of my students. They are my teachers. They are my inspirations. They motivate me to become a better teacher everyday. Patanjali Yoga Sutra 2.5 - According to Patanjali Yoga Sutra, nothing is permanent. The world is constantly changing and I am changing every second. I know I wouldn't be the teacher of students at Nulife Yoga forever. At some point, they will outgrow me and seek for another teacher, or relocate to a different city / country for work, which happens quite often. Regardless what the reason is, I am aware of the fact that me being their teacher is impermanent. There is no need to be upset or overreact to the change. The good news is that I will continue teaching. The new studio, NaMalay, offers me a class this week. I will be teaching there starting next Tuesday (Jan 14th) at 6PM for a power yoga class. I hope to see my old students again and possibly meet some new faces. Details of Yvette Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging -It's been a month since I posted the first review of Budget Stretching Pants Series. I took some time off during holiday season. Now, I am fully charged and ready for 2020. Here comes the second review of Budget Stretching Pants Series, Yvette Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging.  Top: Yvette Sculpt Mesh Straps Sports Bra, Black, 34B (true to size; I am between 32-34B). Bottom: Yvette Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging, Blue, S (runs small). My first Yvette's outfit, Yvette - Shift Light Legging & Anywhere Criss-Cross Strappy Sports Bra Review, was gifted to me. I was so impressed by its performance and fit, so I decided to purchase more out of my pocket during Black Friday Sales. By the way, that is the best time to stock up on yoga wear (lots of great deals). The Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging is one of my purchases. It comes with four colors, Black, Grey, Pink and Blue. I had my eyes on Black and Grey. Unfortunately, they are sold out in my size, so I get a Blue instead.
It is made in China.
Performance - Yvette Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging is medium high compression. The fabric is similar to Lululemon Luxtreme, but fraction of the price. It is soft, breathable and stretchy. Most importantly, it is squat proof. The legging is more suitable for gym workouts than yoga not only due to its high support, but also because of the waistband design. It is a bonded waistband, two layers of the fabric bond together with an adhesive. Though it keeps everything tucked in and provides support, it gets in the way in yoga especially when doing side bends. The waistband is stiffer than a common elastic-free or a thin encased elastic waistband. Easy for movement is important for asana practice; hence, I don't recommend it for yoga. That said, it's a great pair for weight lifting, HIIT, and other gym workouts. Since I am wearing a blue (non black) legging, it doesn't hide sweat stains. If it bothers you, get a black one instead.
Quality - The legging is mostly constructed with durable flatlocking seams except for bottom hems and the waistband. They are bonded with an adhesive, like the hemming tape. They seem to be secure and I have no issue with them. There is a lined gusset for reinforcement. The fabric has good color and shape retention. I don't see color fading and pilling after several wears and washes.  Fit - The legging runs small and I wear one size up, Small. It is flattering. It shapes body curvatures and lifts the butt nicely. The high waist provides great support, but the bonded waistband slightly digs in to the skin. In order to avoid VPL, wearing a seamless panty is a must.  Comfort - The compression of this legging is higher than Yvette Shift Light Legging that I previously reviewed, but it gives a comfortable hug. The bonded waistband is stiff. Although it doesn't cause discomfort, it makes me feel restricted in yoga. Well, the legging isn't designed for yoga anyway, so it's not a problem. Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging vs. Shift Light LeggingCompared to Yvette Shift Light Legging (right picture below), Yvette Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging (left picture below) has a wider waistband. Its fabric is thicker, which makes sweat stains less obvious. Due to the higher compression fit, it shapes and lifts the butt better, giving a more flattering fit. You can't see in the pictures below, but Shift Light HW HS Legging (blue legging below) is less prone to show VPL. And, it is cheaper ($21.99 vs. $58.99). Yvette Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging seems to be a better deal, but Yvette Shift Light Legging is much more comfortable, making it a perfect legging for yoga and casual wear. Depending on your needs, both leggings are great!
Details of Yvette Sculpt Mesh Straps Sports Bra -Knowing Yvette has the expertise in sports bras, I, of course, have to mention it here. I am wearing the high support Sculpt Mesh Straps Sports Bra, which is designed for training and gym workouts. *Disclaimer: Yvette Sculpt Mesh Straps Sports Bra was gifted to me, but the review is my own.  Yvette categories sports bras in High, Medium and Light Supports. They further break down by activity for each support group. I've tried High Support and Light Support ones, and they fit differently. Light Support sport bras are low compression and more comfortable to wear for long period of time. Since there are more jumping involved in HIIT, High Support Bras help to keep things in place. I will share some low support bras in the future. Today, I'd like to focus on the High Support Bra.  Price - Yvette is a budget friendly activewear brand. Though this sports bra was gifted to me, it only costs $27.99, which is half of a Lululemon's bra.
Size & Fit - The sports bra is true to size. I wear a 34B and it fits perfectly. Different to most sports bras, the pads / paddings aren't removable. Just like regular bras (wireless bras), they are part of the bra.  Performance - As described, Sculpt Mesh Straps Sports Bra provides high support. It fits tight in order to keep things in place for high impact workouts. I don't have big breasts; therefore, I don't normally need a lot of support. Sometimes, I even wear medium and low support sports bras for the workout. I am sure that's not the case for women with bigger breasts. What I really like about this bra is the adjustable back closure. This design makes it super easy to put on and take off the bra. We all know that is a real struggle.  For under $50, I've got my workout outfit covered! I can't believe how great Yvette Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging is. Its performance, quality and comfort are on-par with so called high-end, aka expensive, leggings. It also gives a flattering fit. The medium high compression fabric is soft, four-way stretchy and breathable. It also keeps me cool and dry during the workout. Even though the bonded waistband is stiff and slightly digs in to my waist, it doesn't bother me because it provides great support and coverage. Please note that sweat stains are inevitable for a non-black, plain color legging.
