Overall Rating - 8.6 / 10 PROS / Made with silky soft, lightweight and medium compression fabric, Carbon38 Cosmic Legging suits for both yoga and gym workouts. The microfibre construction allows air to flow and wicks away the moisture from hot and sweaty exercises. The focal point, metallic foil cosmic printings, is sturdy (no cracking or peeling after several washes). CONS / I don't like the ultra high waisted design. The front rise is too long and the elastic band is too wide. The waistband covers up to my lower ribs which makes me feel restricted and uncomfortable. BOTTOM LINE / Carbon38 Cosmic Legging is a great all purpose legging. It covers most needs from high impact workouts to yoga. I wish it comes with a flat waistband. The encased elastic is never comfortable. With a such high rise wide elastic band, it presses into lower ribs and makes me feel like wearing a shapewear.
I just shared another legging from Carbon38 couple weeks ago, so I will skip the brand introduction today. Details of Carbon38 Cosmic Legging -Top: Niyama Sol The X-Back Sports Bra, Black, S (run small). Bottom: Carbon38 Cosmic Legging, XS (true to size). Carbon38 Cosmic Legging is another legging that I purchased during the holiday season in addition to Nova Legging. Among the four pairs of Carbon38 leggings I owned, these two are my favorites and I often wear them to yoga and gym workouts. I also wear Nova legging to work. As to the other two pairs, Padang Legging in Red Dahlia and High Waisted 7/8 Length Takara Legging in Black, they aren't practical for any activity in my opinion. I will post more details soon. Today, allow me to share Carbon38 Cosmic Legging with you.
The legging is made in USA. Performance - The fabric is silky smooth (silkier than Nova Legging) and lightweight. The fabric is quite similar to K-Deer leggings. It is breathable, sweat wicking and fast dry. It is medium compression, which works well for various activities. Except for running and cycling, this legging should offer sufficient compression for muscles support for most gym workouts. I'd say the material is high performance and meets all requirements for all activities I do. Quality - I like the legging being constructed with flatlocking seams with a lined gusset. To me, these are a must have for luxury pants. Also, I am satisfied with the quality of metallic foil printings. They are will attached, no cracking and peeling, after several washes. That said, I highly recommend to wash the legging inside out to keep them long lasting. Fit - It is true to size. XS is a comfortable fit for me. I wish it comes with a shorter inseam. I don't like to have extra fabric gathering at the ankle or to wear it over the heel as it is not practical. While the legging creates a leggy look from the front side, it doesn't enhance body curvatures well from the back. Carbon38 Cosmic Legging doesn't shape and lift the butt nicely (same as Nova Legging). It flattens my bum, sort of. The waistband is my least favorite part of the legging. First of all, I don't like the elastic band. Secondly, it is so wide that it presses into my lower ribs. I feel restricted when breathing. Can you imagine putting a shapewear on for practicing yoga and working out? That's how I feel when wearing this legging. Some people may like the ultra high waisted legging for the support, but it's not for me. That said, it does provide a great coverage. Comfort - The fabric itself is soft and comfortable, but the waistband is otherwise. If there is no encased elastic band, the ultra high waist wouldn't be a big issue. With a 3.5" wide elastic band pressing into the lower rib, it is quite uncomfortable. It's even worse when sitting down and/or driving. Although the waistband design is the same as Terez Blink Tall Band Legging, Carbon38 Cosmic Legging has longer front rise and wider elastic band. As a result, the waistband sits much higher than my natural waistline. I usually fold it down while practicing yoga or exercising so that I can "breathe" freely. If you have longer torso, it may not be a problem for you. Another downfall of the wide elastic band is that it causes skin indentation. The bottom left picture shows the mark on my waist. You can also see how high the front rise is. As I fold the waistband into half, it hits right by the navel, which is what Lululemon WU HR Tights sit. I would have given Carbon38 Cosmic Legging a higher score if it wasn't for the ultra high rise and the wide elastic band. The legging offers almost everything needed for yoga and gym workouts other than the comfortable fit. The fabric is silky soft, stretchy, breathable and fast dry. Cosmic Legging is true to size. Although it creates a leggy look, it doesn't shape and lift the butt well. I may not purchase another legging from Carbon38 unless they change the waistband design. Related Review -
