Overall Rating - 8.6 / 10PROS / Eagle Rock WERKSHOP (WERKSHOP) Purple Scales Full Length Legging is a high compression legging. It provides great muscle support for high intensity workouts. The fabric is moisture wicking and fast dry. CONS / There is an encased elastic band on the waistband, which is not my favorite. It digs into the skin. Although the high compression material is great for high impact exercises, I find it too snug for yoga. BOTTOM LINE / WERKSHOP Purple Scales Full Length Legging has lots of compression. It works great for high impact exercises, but it may not be ideal for yoga. It has great sweat wicking and fast dry properties; however, the breathability is just okay. Even though the mid rise waist gives decent support, it doesn't provide the best coverage, especially when the encased elastic band digs into the skin and reveals the muffin top.
About Eagle Rock WERKSHOP -Top: Lululemon Flow Y Bra, Size 4 (true to size). Bottom: WERKSHOP Purple Scales Full Length Legging, S (run small). Eagle Rock WERKSHOP is an active-lifestyle brand that "Blurs the line between Fashion and Function." The company was launched via kickstarter in Jan, 2014, by the owner/founder Chriztina Marie, who is also the artist of the company. All artwork is either created by Chriztina herself or the collaboration with her team. She uses the triathlon fabric (high compression material) from Italy and does the printing in the design studio in California. The most iconic designs include Dark Sugar and Remix, which are so popular that I've seen the copycat online.
Details of WERKSHOP Purple Scales Legging -Eagle Rock WERKSHOP is a popular activewear brand, especially in the IG Yoga Community. I like their unique and beautiful artwork, particularly Scales Leggings (Gold Scales, Purple Scales and Teal Scales) in Triathlon collection. It wasn't until this Spring when Athleisure collection was introduced did WERKSHOP catch my full attention. I am drawn to LeatherWERK. I like all prints in that collection, but I decided to get Stars -Athleisure in addition to Purple Scales Full Length Legging. I will reveal Stars - Athleisure soon. Before that, let me introduce Eagle Rock WERKSHOP Purple Scales Full Length Legging.
The legging is made in USA. Performance - WERKSHOP Purple Scales Full Length Legging has tons of compression, one of the highest I've tried. It reminds me of Varley Union Legging in Navy Snake. It is a great pair for high impact workouts when muscles support is needed. On the other hand, I find it too snug for yoga. The material is almost identical to the Italian fabric used by Niyama. It is sleek, four-way stretch, moisture wicking and fast dry, but the breathability isn't the greatest. Quality - The legging is constructed with flatlocking seams. Instead of using the commonly seen triangle or diamond shaped gusset, a stripe is inserted from one inner thigh to the other to add the reinforcement, similar to K-Deer Legging (I finally get to try their leggings and they are my new favorite) and L'urv Spot Me Legging. I've only worn it couple times, but there is no color fading or pilling so far. Fit - High compression leggings tend to give a slimmer look, and WERKSHOP Purple Scales Full Length Legging is no exception. In addition to that, it lifts the bum nicely. Although it enhances body curvatures, the encased elastic band digs into the waist and doesn't hide the muffin top well. The legging runs small, do order one size up. I wear a small, and it still fits snug. There is no way I'd be able to fit in my regular size XS. Comfort - Due to the high compression fabric and the elastic band that digs into the waist, I would not wear the legging for long time. It's definitely not an ideal piece for casual wear or lounging at home. I like the high compression fabric of WERKSHOP Purple Scales Full Length Legging for high intensity workouts, such as Tabata and strength training; however, it is too snug for yoga in my opinion. The sleek Italian fabric is moisture wicking and fast dry, but the breathability is so so. The legging creates a slim look and lifts the bum. One downfall is that the waistband digs into my waist and causes some discomfort. Will I recommend this legging to yogis? Well, I am on the fence. Related Reviews -
