PROS / The medium high compression fabric makes Lovewave The Jackson Pant suitable for various exercises, including yoga and high impact workouts. The high waist keeps the tummy tucked in and provides tons of support and coverage. CONS / The legging runs small, especially the waist. The V-seam of the waistband makes my tummy look bloated. While the legging masks sweat stains, it doesn't breathe well. BOTTOM LINE / Lovewave The Jackson Pant covers basic performance needs (four-way stretch, fast dry and shape retention) for wide range of workouts; however, it fall short of the breathability. The high waist provides great support and hides the muffin top, but it doesn't flatter my body curvatures well. Hsiaolin Yoga - Let's talk about Sādhanā.
Practicing Ashtanga yoga means practicing all of the eight limbs. Doing asana without backing of yama and niyama is mere an acrobatics. I am not here to tell or judge others how to practice yoga because it was the exercise aspect that brought me to yoga. After years of practicing, I start understanding the spiritual part of it. While I am currently shelter-in-place, I have been practicing pranayama and meditation more than ever. It helps me stay grounded and find peace within. About Lovewave -There is limited information I can find about Lovewave. All I know is that the company is based in Los Angeles, California. It is a contemporary women's fashion swimwear brand, which also designs athletic wear fashion label. Lovewave is only available on Revolve (use code tulip to receive 10% off). Details of Lovewave The Jackson Pant in Pink Leopard -Top: Athleta Pura Bra, Crushed Berry, S (run small, suitable for 32B-34B) Bottom: Lovewave The Jackson Pant, Pink Leopard, S (run small). Though I don't post new articles weekly like I used to be lately, I am still here and doing well. I am just busy. I have been taking a lot of online yoga classes, workshops, and training, which have occupied my weekends. I have to admit that I enjoy this shelter-in-place. There are way more workshops and training available online that I would otherwise need to travel to attend. My dilemma today is to choose between courses to not double or triple book myself. I'd say that's a good problem to have. I wonder how the yoga community will be when this pandemic is over. Are people still willing and preferring to attend in-person classes or are they used to virtual online classes? While there are many advantages of online courses, certain in-person hands-on learnings can't be replaced by internet. This week I want to share The Jackson Pant in Pink Leopard from Lovewave that I purchased in January. Although it is no longer available, I want to shed some light on its sizing, performance, fit, etc.
It is made in China. Performance - Lovewave The Jackson Pant in Pink Leopard is medium high compression. It can be worn for various exercises, including yoga, Tabata, HIIT, and strength training. The fabric is four-way stretch and sweat wicking; however, it fall short of the breathability. For that reason, I don't like to wear it for sweaty workouts. The high waist provides tons of support, keeping the belly tucked in. The leopard pattern masks sweat stains well. Quality - The legging is sewn with durable flatlocking seams. The fabric is completely opaque. It also retains the color and shape well after several wears and washes. Although there is no lined gusset, the panel helps to hold the joint of fabric together and strengthen the area. The material has similar touch to EMILY HSU DESIGNS Skulls Legging. They are sleek, but they do not breathe well, which is my biggest complaint. Fit - It runs small and I wear one size up, Small. I ordered two sizes, XS and S. Both sizes fitted me, but the pattern of the XS was stretched out too much that I could see the white undertone. I'd say that XS is equivalent to Lululemon size 2 and S is size 4. The legging is ultra high rise, which helps to keep the belly tucked in and hides the muffin top. The flat waistband covers at least one inch above my navel. During the movement, it rolls down a bit but still have the belly button covered. The waist is on the smaller side. It fits tighter than I like. Moreover, the v-shaped waist design ("V" seams) gives my belly a bloated / bulging look. I expect the legging to lift the butt given its medium high compression fabric; however, it doesn't quite meet my expectation. I've seen many leggings that can sculpt the bum much better than this pair. Comfort - The medium high compression fabric provides great muscles support and hugging sensation during my workouts and yoga practice, but it's too much for casual wear and lunging at home. In addition to that, lacking breathability makes the moisture trapped inside the legging, which is not very comfortable during sweaty workouts. As I mentioned above, the waist is snug. As a result, it causes some restriction. It would have been worse if it wasn't elastic-free. Lovewave The Jackson Pant in Pink Leopard covers basic needs for various exercises from yoga to HIIT. The fabric is four-way stretch and sweat wicking; however, it doesn't breathe well, which is my biggest complaint. The high waist provides tons of support and hides the muffin top, but the "V" seam gives my tummy a bulging look. I would purchase another pair from Lovewave only if it's on sale. For $120 (retail price), I would expect more (better fit and performance). Related Reviews -
