Overall Rating - 8.8 / 10* The score applies to Moonchild Seamless Legging in Dandelion Yellow. PROS / As advertised, Moonchild Seamless Legging is made with the ultra soft material that gives a second-skin feel. It is lightweight, breathable, four-way stretch and moisture wicking. The ultra high flat waistband keeps everything tucked in and provides tons of support and coverage. CONS / Since the legging is relatively light in color, it does leave sweat spots. It is also see see-through when wearing a dark color panty. The type of the fabric weave is prone to snags. BOTTOM LINE / I can't be happier with the performance and fit of Moonchild Seamless Legging. The second-skin feel fabric is soft, breathable, stretchy and moisture wicking. The ultra high waist stays put with movement and provides great coverage for the belly. Although the light weight fabric keeps me cool during the workout, it is prone to snags. I recommend to wear and wash the legging with caution (avoid in contact with any sharp or rough object). * Disclaimer: The outfit was gifted to me by Aktiv (Moonchild distributor in US), but the review is my own. About Moonchild Yoga Wear -Before writing this review, I only knew that Moonchild is a activewear company based in Denmark. Their yoga wear is sustainable made and not cheap (comparable to Lululemon). After reading the company's bio and core value, I appreciate more of what they offer and want to support their business. Here is the brief introduction of Moonchild. If you'd like to learn more, please visit their website as well as Aktiv (exclusive distributor in the United States). Moonchild Yoga Wear is a boutique one-women owned activewear brand, founded in Denmark in 2015. The woman behind the brand is Louise Wang Nielsen, who is the founder, owner and creative director of the company. Having fallen in love with yoga and practicing asanas on a daily basis, Louise left her law studies and took the track as a young entrepreneur. Combining her fashion design education with the passion of yoga, Moonchild Yoga Wear was born. Incorporating the Danish philosophy of minimalism and Scandinavian excellence to the design, their collection features minimalism with an unique and feminine touch. From the fabric selection, manufacturing process to final packaging, the company is committed to bring customers the sustainable and environmental friendly clothing. All of their yoga wear is made in the European Union. They carefully selected the manufacturer that passed SteP by OEKO-TEX® certificate (see definition below). With the facility in EU, it allows Louise to visit the site regularly to ensure that no detail escapes her attention. Moonchild believes in giving back. Part of their proceeds goes to selected charities and organizations. They worked with Action Child Aid to create Education for poor children in India. Since 2018, Moonchild has been working with Women for Women International, helping women survivors of war rebuild their lives. STeP by OEKO-TEX® is an independent certification system for brands, retailers and manufacturers from the textile and leather industry. Can anyone believe it's September already? It shocks me how fast the time goes by each year. When I was little, I wished I could grow up faster. Being a grown up, especially now I am approaching 40, I wish it would slow down. I was told once that everything is relative. As I am busier and having more responsibilities than ever, the time flies really fast. It was when I had no responsibility and not much going on in life that I felt the time moved slowly. I don't want to admit that I am getting older; rather, I am more maturer. I have more life experiences than before and I continue growing and becoming a better person. Life is great! It's been a month since I came back from Colorado for my 300 YTT training. I am finally back to my routine and schedule of teaching all classes. In the past three weeks, I took some time off from teaching. I only taught half of my weekly public classes. It was nice to step back and give more time to myself. Self care is a part of the yoga practice and it's an important one. While I was in Colorado, I had an opportunity to met with Aktiv owner, the exclusive distributor of Moonchild in the states. It was my pleasure to be able to sit down with him and have some conversation. Before our meeting, I have been following both Moonchild and Aktiv closely and wanting to try their yoga wear. I couldn't be more excited when he contacted me for collaboration. Here comes the review Moonchild Seamless Legging & Crop Top. Moonchild Seamless Legging -
The legging is made in Europe. Performance - The performance of Moonchild Seamless Legging is spot-on. It is super stretchy, light weight, breathable and sweat wicking. Since it is very breathable though the fabric is not thinner than Niyama Sol's RPET, it helps me stay cool during sweaty exercises. The legging is medium compression. It is suitable for yoga and gym workouts; however, I prefer to wear it for yoga. Unlike most ultra high waist leggings that roll down with movement, the flat waistband of Moonchild Seamless Legging stays put and keeps me covered. One downfall of wearing a light plain color legging is that it leaves sweat spots. For that reason, I don't recommend it for hot yoga unless you don't mind showing wet marks. Quality - The legging is well made. It has the same gusset design as Lululemon Align Pant. I notice that the fabric requires extra care when handling it. The loose weave fabric is more prone to snags. I am not sure when and how it happened. I find a snag by the right ankle area. It could be caused by my nail or during laundry. I always put sports bras in a mesh laundry bag for protection, but I don't do so for leggings. After knowing that the legging is more delicate than others, I start putting it to the mesh laundry bag. Another note is that the legging can be see-through unless wearing a nude color underwear. If you choose a dark color legging (Aura Blue, Forest Green or Onyx Black), it is completely opaque. Due to these two reasons, the score is on the lower end. I also have Moonchild Seamless Legging 7/8 in Black, which is completely opaque. Since I always wash this pair in a mesh laundry bag, there is no snag found. Fit - It runs small and I wear one size up, Small. I probably can fit in an XS for a more compression fit, but I like how the Small hugs my body. It provides the perfect amount of compression for yoga. Most seamless leggings run small. If you are not sure, just size up. What this legging impresses me the most is how flattering it is on me. There is no camel toe, no awkward panty line, and it shapes my body curvatures well. The ultra high waistband hides the muffin top. Since I am only 5'2", the legging is long on me. I can wear it over the heel. If you are petite like me and dislike having extra fabric gathering around the ankle, Moonchild Seamless Legging 7/8 could be an alternate choice. Comfort - I don't normally like the ultra high waisted legging as it tends to put pressure on my lower ribs, but I don't have such problem with Moonchild Seamless Legging. It is super comfortable and completely pinch-free. It is the legging that I would wear not only for yoga, but also lounge at home. Moonchild Seamless Crop Top -I was skeptical when I first got the Moonchild Seamless Crop Top because there is no removable pad and the neckline is higher than I like. After wearing it for yoga several times, I actually like this top a lot. Although I prefer to have removable cups to cover up nipples in public classes, it doesn't bother me for my home practice as it is very comfortable. The crop top consists of two layers of fabric and there is no slot to insert any pad. This used to be a deal breaker for me, but I start liking it more these days. That said, this top is not designed for high impact workouts due to lack of support. In addition, I don't recommend it for chesty women. If you need more support, consider wearing a sports bra underneath. Size - It only comes with three sizes, Small, Medium and Large. It runs small and I wear the size Small. Though it fits fine, but I can probably wear a Medium for a more relax fit. My chest and shoulders are getting bigger lately (thanks for the jump back and jump through in Ashtanga) and I am between sizes XS and S. I can still fit in Lululemon size 4 sports bras but the 6 is more comfortable. Material - 96% Polyamide and 4% Elastane. It has a smoother and softer touch than the legging. As shown in the picture below, the legging has a looser weave than the crop top. Cost - The retail price is $65. I love Moonchild Seamless Legging & Seamless Crop Top. The mustard yellow (my favorite color) is so pretty, and the whole outfit is very flattering. The second skin-like fabric is lightweight, breathable and moisture wicking. Although the top (no pad) doesn't have enough support for high impact exercises, the legging works well for both yoga and gym workouts. Unlike many seamless leggings, Moonchild Seamless Legging doesn't show camel toes and the panty line. To avoid see through, wearing a nude color underwear is a must. Otherwise, you can consider a dark color legging instead of Dandelion Yellow. Overall, I really like the performance, comfort and fit of this outfit. I am planning to order another set.
