PROS / Purusha People Your Soul Grows Legging is made with the soft, medium compression and four-way stretch fabric. It works well for yoga as well as gym workouts.

CONS / The legging is not flattering on me. It shows the panty line on the back and leaves wet spots after a sweaty workout. The "V" seam on the back of the waistband is too low. It gives me a feeling of wearing the legging half way down like a sagging pant. Also, it is sewn together with overlocking seams throughout.

BOTTOM LINE / The performance and feel of the fabric used for Purusha People Your Soul Grows Legging are great. It definitely serves the needs for various activities; however, it is not flattering. Although it creates a legging look, it shows the panty line and doesn't lift the butt. I also don't like the seam of the waistband being so low.

About Purusha People Clothing-

Purusha People was founded in 2009 by Hayley Elliott. The company is based in sunny California. They takes pride in sourcing the most organic and softest fibers possible, using non-toxic water based inks and low impact dyes, and paying workers a livable wage locally in Los Angeles. In fact, Hayley and her friend Nadya personally cut, print and sew the entire Purusha People catalogue.

The company is relatively small compared to big corporates like Athleta and Lululemon, but they are honored to give back. A portion of proceeds goes to sponsoring children and their villages in Africa through World Vision.

Details of Purusha People Your Soul Grows Legging -

Top: Lululemon Sports Bra (it's over 5 year old).
Bottom: Purusha People Your Soul Grows Legging, S (run small).
I couldn't help to compare Purusha People to EMILY HSU DESIGNS. Both are relatively small companies though EMILY HSU DESIGNS has grown quite a bit in the last couple years. They are women owned business and their collections are proudly made in USA. Both founders are very hands-on. They involve the manufacturing process from the fabric selection, design to sewing. I respect these women a lot and want to support their businesses as much as I can.

Let's take a look of my first purchase from Purusha People  - Your Soul Grows Legging. This pant has sold out but Modern Rainbow Legging seems to have the same cut and fabric.

1. Size – It runs small and I wear one size up, size Small.

2. Style – It's a full length legging.

3. Inseam – 30" long. It is quite long on me as I can wear it over the heel.

4. Front Rise – 12" high rise.

5. Waistband – 5" (side) to 7.75" (front and back) flat waistband with a stash pocket on the back.

6. Fabric – 90% Nylon and 10% Spandex. The material is medium compression.

7. Design for – Heated and non-heated yoga as well as gym workouts.

8. Cost – Retail price is ~$93.99. I paid $50.78 including shipping from the sample sale.

The legging is made in USA.

There is a stash pocket on the back. I don't find it useful but it can be practical for others.

Performance -
Purusha People Your Soul Grows Legging is made with the medium compression fabric. It is stretchy, breathable and fast dry. The high waistband provides a great coverage for the midsection. The legging works for both yoga and high impact workouts, but I would not recommend it for sweaty activities, i.e., heated yoga. I notice wet marks along hip creases after Ashtanga practice. I sweat fair amount during the practice even when the room isn't heated. I can't imagine how bad it will be when wearing it to a heated yoga class. I'd say its performance is average. It covers basic needs for workouts.

Quality -
For $93.99 (retail price), the flatlocking seam is expected. Unfortunately, it's sewn with overlocking seams. I can see the back rise (stitches) being stretched out. At this price point, I would rather invest a pair of Lululemon Wunder Under Tight. Though the quality of the fabric (100% opaque) is good, I am not impressed by its construction.

Fit -
The legging runs small and I wear one size up. Size Small is a perfect fit on me. That said, the legging is one of the least flattering pairs I've ever tried. It does create a leggy look at front, but it is horrible on the back. It shows the embarrassing panty line and makes the butt look very saggy. For that reason, I've never worn it to the studio or the gym. I only dare to wear it when practicing at home. Please note that I wear a seamless underwear. I am darn sure that I wear the RIGHT panty.

Besides the saggy butt look, what doesn't work for me the most is the cut / style of the waistband. It is high rise providing a great coverage; however, the "V" seam on the back doesn't feel right. The seam sits too low. It feels like I am wearing a sagging pant that the pant is half way down to the the butt. Anyway, it just doesn't feel right.

It is worth to mention that Purusha People offers custom length (inseam) to accommodate everyone's height. This is a great bonus for someone like me, petite! You may wonder why I didn't ask for a shorter inseam. Well, I bought the sample sale pair, which was pre-made and custom length wasn't offered.

Comfort -
The fabric is soft and the flat waistband is pinch-free; however, the "V" seam of the waistband feels weird. It's not uncomfortable per se, but it is quite a distraction during my practice. It may not be an issue to those who are used to wearing a super low rise or sagging pant, but it's not for me.

Purusha People Your Soul Grows Legging reminds me of Beach Riot Riot Legging Blue, expensive with lots of room for improvement on the construction and fit.

Purusha People Your Soul Grows Legging doesn't work for me. I do like its soft and stretchy fabric as well as the high waist for the full coverage; however, the fit and construction are not meeting the bar. The overlocking seam is less durable and prone to tear or rip. The style of the waistband feels weird (like wearing a sagging pant). In addition, it doesn't shape or lift the butt at all. It shows the embarrassing panty line and perspiration mark. If I'd purchase their leggings in the future, I will choice the one with regular waistband style hoping it will be more flattering than this pair.

Beach Riot Riot Legging Blue is a cute and catchy legging with the studded embellishment. Other than the performance fabric that I like, the fit and the quality do not meet my expectations. Personally, I think the legging is overpriced.

EMILY HSU DESIGNS Skulls Legging is sleek and chic. The fabric is stretchy enough for the wide range of movement, perfect for yoga. The super high waistband is comfortable and covers the stomach very well. For $20 (I bought it on sale), it is one of the best "investment" I've made.
