PROS / Sweaty Betty Disco Foil High Waisted 7/8 Workout Legging provides performance needs for gym workouts. Not only is it four-way stretch, but it also features sweat wicking property. Combined the medium-high compression fabric with the high waist, it gives tons of support and makes me feel secured during the workout. CONS / The gunmetal glitter print does not hide sweat stains. The legging fits loose behind the knee to accommodate the less stretch foil print. BOTTOM LINE / Sweaty Betty Disco Foil High Waisted 7/8 Workout Legging is stylish and yet covers all performance needs at the gym. The medium-high compression fabric provides tons of muscles support and the high waist keeps the belly tucked in. Although it is quad proof, it doesn't mask sweat stains. Details of Sweaty Betty Disco Foil High Waisted 7/8 Workout Legging -I was debating if I should share Sweaty Betty Disco Foil High Waisted 7/8 Workout Legging because they had been sold out online since last November. The good news is that they are re-stocked (limited sizes) and currently on sale. Now, there is no reason for me to not share this eye-catching piece. Top: Lanston Corba Cutout Bra, Snake, S (true to size; I am between 32-34B). Bottom: Sweaty Betty Disco Foil High Waisted 7/8 Workout Legging, Gunmetal Glitter Print, XS (true to size). I have a mix feeling about Sweaty Betty. There is absolutely nothing wrong or bad about their clothes, but I find them more suitable for gym workouts than yoga (my primary practice). It has been years since I purchased their leggings last time. When I was out shopping on Black Friday (last year), I decided to stop by Sweaty Betty. I left the store with three items and this legging was one of them. Before I even entered the store, my attention was drawn to this legging on the mannequin window display. The moment I saw Sweaty Betty Disco Foil High Waisted 7/8 Workout Legging, I knew I was getting it.
It is made in Cambodia. Performance - The fabric is medium-high compression, which provides great muscles support for high impact workouts. That said, it can also be worn for yoga since it is four-way stretch and easy for movement. Just like Lululemon WU HR Tights Full-On Luxtreme, they give a snug fit for support but are designed for yoga. The only reason that I don't recommend this pair for yoga is that the waistband with one inch wide elastic provides too much support (high compression). It makes me feel restricted in yoga, especially when practicing pranayama. The legging is advertised lightweight, but the material is thicker than I expect. While the base material is breathable, the foil print is not so much. Luckily, the inner side of the legging has no print to provide comfort; however, inside the waistband is otherwise. It doesn't breath well and causes discomfort. I can feel the foil print sticks (minor) to my skin during the sweaty workout. Quality - Overall, the legging is well made. It is sewn with flatlocking stitches and there is a lined gusset for reinforcement. The gunmetal foil print is durable and sturdy. I've not experienced any peeling after several washes. The base fabric is thick yet breathable, except for the foil print. It is 100% opaque, but it doesn't mask sweat stains. I can clearly see sweat marks in the sacrum area post the workout (see the right picture below). Fit - It is true to size and I wear my regular size XS. It hugs most my body nicely other than the area behind the knee, which is a tad loose. I asked the salesperson in store if that was normal, and she said yes. The area is made to be more forgiven to allow the knee movement because the foil print is not as stretchy as the base fabric. Her explanation makes sense, but it's uncommon. This legging is very similar to Beyond Yoga Alloy Ombre High Waisted Midi Legging, but BY gives a snug fit throughout. Despite the loose fit behind the knee, the legging gives a flattering look. It sculpts the butt very well. I like the 7/8 legging. The inseam is perfect for my height (5'2"). For taller people, you can consider the full length instead. I appreciate Sweaty Betty offering two lengths for most bottoms to accommodate everyone's needs (differences in height and preferences in length). The waist sits up to my belly button. It provides a great support and coverage, and keeps the tummy tucked in. Comfort - The fabric is super soft. Since inside of the legging has no foil print besides the waistband, it is very comfortable against the skin. Though I prefer the flat waistband (elastic free), the wide encased elastic band (one inch) and the drawcork do not bother me. Unlike most elastic bands that dig in to the skin, Sweaty Betty Disco Foil High Waisted 7/8 Workout Legging provides tons of support and makes me feel covered. Despite the minor breathability issue on the waist, I like Sweaty Betty Disco Foil High Waisted 7/8 Workout Legging very much. The fabric is soft and stretchy. The medium-high compression fit along with the high waist provide great muscles support and body hugging sensation. It makes me feel secured and covered during the workout. Though the legging can be worn for both yoga and high impact workouts, the waistband provides more support / compression than I like for yoga. Related Reviews -
