Varley is a popular activewear brand based in London. Although I do not own many Varley's clothes, I follow their new releases and sales closely. Due to the increasing popularity of seamless leggings, Varley finally designs their own. Emerson Snake Legging is the first seamless legging that I noticed from Varley. It comes with three colors, Orchid, Grey and Navy, and five sizes ranging from XXS to L. Most stores do not carry XXS except for Varley.
Top: Lululemon Awaking Bra Taryn Toomey Collection, Misty Mauve, 4 (true to size).
Bottom: Varley Emerson Snake Legging, Navy, S (run small).
I was excited when I first saw Varley Emerson Snake Legging online and couldn't wait to get it. I ordered two sizes, XS and S from Anthropologie, but I ended up returning both. Let's take a look and find out the reason why I didn't keep it.
Review of Varly Emerson Navy Snake Legging -
The legging is made in Portugal.
Performance -
Since I didn't keep Varley Emerson Navy Snake Legging, I am not able to provide feedback of its performance. That said, it is medium to high compression which provides muscles support for high impact activities. However, the fabric doesn't seem to be very breathable, which would be less ideal for high sweat exercises including heated yoga.
Quality -
I am satisfied with the seamless construction, but not the fabric. Although it is 100% opaque, it feels plasticky to me. I was expecting buttery soft lightweight fabric, like Sweaty Betty Prism Seamless Legging and Alala Seamless Legging. Unfortunately, it is not the case. The material doesn't feel right to me. It's not something I would wear for my yoga practice (too synthetic and too thick). For that reason, I returned the legging. Fit - Varley Emerson Snake Legging runs small and I wear a size small. Compared to the XS, the waist of the Small is 1" bigger and the front rise is 3/4" longer, while the inseams are the same (27"). I like how the legging creates a leggy look. It shapes and lifts all the right places of my body. The high waist keeps the tummy tucked in and provides lots of support. I would have kept the legging if the fabric was softer and lightweight because it is super flattering. Comfort - Not only does the high rise flat waistband hide the muffin top, it is also pinch-free. It is comfortable and provides support and coverage needed for the midsection. The legging is medium to high compression, perfect for yoga and gym workouts. It offers enough compression without causing restriction.
Varley Emerson Navy Snake Legging creates a leggy look, shapes and lifts all the right places of the body, and the waistband keeps the tummy tucked in. Although it is very flattering, the fabric doesn't work for me. It feels plasticky and doesn't seem to offer great breathability, which is why I didn't keep the legging.
Where to Buy -
