Vimmia is one of my favorite yoga activewear brands, launched in 2012. The brand is founded by Ardy Raminfar, who is also behind the brands Heather and Bordeaux, which are sold exclusively at Anthropologie. If you happen to shop at Anthropologie a lot (like me), these two brands should not be unfamiliar to you. Why did I talk about Anthropologie here? Well, I met and bought my first Vimmia capir while shopping at Anthropologie few years ago.
Top: Montiel Cali Cami, Black, XS Bottom: Vimmia Leaf Jacquard Capri, Smoke, XS
Vimmia designs fashion-forward performance activewear. All of its clothes are made in the USA. It is luxe workout wear that provides precision fits, exceptional detailing, and technical properties that include thermoregulation, moisture wicking, and improved oxygenation to muscles. The luxe also comes with a high price tag. Its bottoms are priced between $64 to $180.
Vimmia Leaf Jacquard Capri UNFOLD
6. Fabric – Self: 74% Nylon, 18% Polyester, 8% Spandex. Contrast: 87% Nylon, 13% Spandex. The fabric feels more like cotton and is on the thicker side. I thought it would have poor moisture wicking and perspiration ventilation. In fact, the fabric is very breathable, and it features fast drying and sweat wicking properties. Four-way stretch also allows dynamic movement. Since it is not very compressive fabric, the capri does not contour my body as well as others like Niyama Sol Gypsy Sol Beachcomber Crop.
10. Crotch Seam – Triangle shaped gusset, but no lining.
Vimmia Leaf Jacquard Capri comes with a hidden pocket on the left side of the waistband. You can put a key, a credit card or a studio/gym membership card here. I don't really see the need for it, but some people may find it useful. For me, having something on my waist is just not comfortable especially when practicing yoga.
Here are additional close shots of the capri. I hope you can clearly see what the textured jacquard fabric looks like.
Leaf Jacquard Capri definitely meets Vimmia design principles, precision fits and attention to detail. The capri is 4-way stretch, moisture wicking and fast drying. The textured jacquard is moderate compressive fabric that sucks everything in (aka muffin top); however, it does not provide much lift. Vimmia Leaf Jacquard Capri may not be the most flattering legging I've tried (contour), but it's definitely one of the most fashion forward and high performance capri I own.
I like Vimmia a lot, but it is just so expensive.
Where to Buy -
Vimmia Leaf Jacquard comes with two colors (white and smoke) and two styles (capri and legging). Here are the stores where you can buy Leaf Jacquard Capris and Leggings.
I found most stores carry either White Capri or White Legging, but not many places sell Smoke ones, which is quite surprising to me. I would expect more people like the Smoke color than White, but I could be wrong.
