Overall Rating - 9.9 / 10
PROS / Wolven Moonlight Mandala Legging is made with the soft, four-way stretch, fast dry and sweat wicking Recycled PET (RPET) fabric. It is comfortable to wear for any occasion from lounging at home to yoga, and the flat waistband keeps everything tucked in.
CONS / I wish the legging comes with the ankle length. It would be nice to be able to wear it without extra fabric gathering around the ankle. BOTTOM LINE / Wolven Moonlight Mandala Legging is my new favorite. I love the RPET fabric which provides all the needs for yoga as well as gym workouts. It is also 100% opaque. The legging is comfortable and flattering. It shapes, lifts and hides all the right places of my body.
6/27/19: Wolven recently changed the brand name from Wolven Threads to Wolven. I've updated the article accordingly.
About Wolen -
Top: Niyama Sol Oxblood Eclipse Sports Bra, XS/S (run big).
Bottom: Wolven Moonlight Mandala Legging, XS (true to size).
Wolven is a Los Angeles based activewear brand. It was launched in 2014 by the couple Kiran Jade and Will Ryan, each bringing a unbridled creativity and love for nature to their business. Over the last few years, Wolven has been picking up press not only because of the rise of athleisure, but also due to their unique and fun patterns as well as high quality products.
Wolven is inspired by Kiran's Eastern heritage, half Indian and half Pakistani. The patterns are created based on sacred geometry found in Hindu mandalas and Islamic architecture with an inspiration of colors in Indian textiles. Kiran started working on pattern designs while in college at Art Center. At the same time, she was pursuing the yoga teacher certification. Then she decided to merge all her favorite things - art, yoga, fashion and sustainability. Wolven is completely free of harmful toxins and chemicals. The company donates 5% of profits from each sale to teaching at-risk youth yoga. "Wolven garments are designed to truly reflect the spirit of a yogi- radiant, wild and free." Details of Wolven Moonlight Mandala Legging -
I have been wanting to try Wolven leggings for quite some time. It wasn't until recently did I finally purchase their legging. I had my eyes on Heliocentric Legging. Since Moonlight Mandala Legging was on sale and Heliocentric Legging wasn't, I decided to get the Moonlight Mandala Legging first. Actually, I just ordered Heliocentric Legging this week (30% off with the code FLOW30 this week) and it's on the way. I will share some pictures after I receive it.
I am glad that I give Wolven a chance. I am thrilled by the performance, fit and quality of the legging. It has become one of my favorites and I am sure I will be buying more from them. Like I said, the second pair is on the way. Let's take a look why Wolven Moonlight Mandala Legging becomes my new love.
The legging is made in China.
Performance - I love how Wolven Moonlight Mandala Legging performs in yoga and Tabata classes. It is four-way stretch, breathable, moisture wicking and fast dry. The flat waistband provides support and coverage for my midsection. It also stays put with movement (no sliding or rolling down). Quality - Based on my previous experience with Niyama Sol that RPET fabrics can be sheer, but Wolven Moonlight Mandala Legging is 100% opaque (very impressive). The legging is constructed with flatlocking seams. Although the gusset is unlined, it's better than without one. So far, I have not experienced color fading or pilling. Fit - The size guide on Wolven is quite confusing. Based on the measurement, I should wear an XS; however, the description says it runs a half size small and the model is wearing a M, which is hard to believe because she looks pretty slim to me. After doing some research, I decided to go with my regular size, XS, and I am glad I did. It fits me like a glove. The legging lifts and shapes all the right places of my body, and gives a leggy look. It is so flattering that I received quite a few complements when I wore it to the class. I like high rise, flat waist leggings, and Wolven Moonlight Mandala Legging offers exactly what I want. The high rise provides great coverage and support, and the flat waistband is pinch free and hides the muffin top.
I got a tan while washing my car few weeks ago. It's quite obvious in the top right picture lol.
Comfort - I love the RPET fabric. It is cottony soft and good for the environment. The legging is comfortable for workouts as well as lounging at home.
The picture was taken between shots. I thought it would be a good idea to share the behind the scene photo for once. I use my iPhone to control the camera shutter and this is how I check photos between shots.
Wolven Moonlight Mandala Legging is my new favorite yoga pant. It offers everything I want for yoga, gym workouts and more. The fabric is soft, 100% opaque, breathable, four-way stretch, sweat wicking and fast dry. The waistband sits at the perfect place providing the coverage and support needed for the midsection. The flat waist is comfortable and pinch-free. Most importantly, it is cute and flattering.
