PROS / Yvette Shift Light Icon High Support Legging is a versatile legging. The medium compression fabric is stretchy, breathable and sweat wicking. It provides perfect amount of muscles support for yoga and gym workout. CONS / The legging slides down if the drawstring isn't tighten, which however is prone to show the muffin top. BOTTOM LINE / I recommend Yvette Shift Light Icon High Support Legging to those who don't want to spend a lot of money on leggings and just want few pairs to cover wide range of exercises. Even though the drawstring waist makes it more suitable for gym workout than yoga, the medium compression fabric is perfect for either activity. Furthermore, the legging gives a slim look. Disclaimer: The legging was gifted to me, but the review is my own. Yogini's Chit-Chats -Ever since I started practicing Ashtanga yoga in 2014, I haven't taken any workshop that's not Ashtanga related until last weekend. After following Jason Crandell for years, I finally had a chance to practice with him. He is a senior vinyasa yoga teacher based in San Francisco. He is knowledgeable and technical. He is good at explaining asanas and movements anatomically. Anatomy can be scary to many people, but he makes it very easy to understand. Though I don't practice vinyasa yoga, I can apply everything I learn from him to my Ashtanga practice and the vinyasa class I teach. I can't wait to take his 3 day training in Nov at Love Story Yoga. About Yvette -Please visit my previous post Yvette Shift Light Legging to learn more about the brand. Details of Yvette Shift Light Icon High Support Legging -Top: Yvette Anywhere Criss Cross Sports Bra, Black, S (true to size; I am between 32-34B). Bottom: Yvette Shift Light Icon High Support Legging, Black, S (run small). This is my second time collaborating with Yvette. Between the items I bought and gifted to me, I have quite the collection from Yvette. Since the brand's main focus is on women's sports bras, there is limited leggings to choose from and none of them has pattern. I love patterns, but many prefer basic plain leggings. In general, Yvette is a budget friendly brand; however, Yvette Shift Light Icon High Support Legging costs more than $40 and doesn't make the cut to the Budget Stretching Pants Series.
The legging is made in China. Performance - Although it is advertised as a high support legging, Yvette Shift Light Icon High Support Legging is medium compression in my opinion. It is suitable for gym workouts and yoga; however, the drawstring waist makes it less ideal for yoga (more restriction). Speaking of which, the waistband slides down unless I tighten the drawstring. The fabric is four-way stretch, breathable and sweat wicking. This legging is available in three colors. If you choose the other two colors, purple and light blue, sweat stains are unavoidable during and post workouts. Compared to the other two previously reviewed leggings from Yvette, Shift Light Legging (for yoga) and Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging (for high impact workouts), its compression / muscles support is in-between. Therefore, it works for wide range of activities as long as the drawstring doesn't bother you in yoga. Quality - Owning so many items from Yvette, I've always been satisfied with their quality and this legging is no exception. It is sewn with flatlocking stitches. There is a lined gusset for reinforcement. I've not experienced any pilling, color fading, or thread unraveling after several wears and washes. Even the printed brand name along the leg is intact. Fit - It runs small and I order one size up, which is S. It hugs my body perfectly. Black leggings give the most slimming look compared to other colors. In addition to that, Yvette Shift Light Icon High Support Legging shapes the butt nicely. The waistband sits right below the navel and gives just enough coverage. The only complaint I have is the drawstring. Without tightening it, the waistband doesn't stay in place (the elastic band isn't tight) and slides down. However, when it's tighten, it digs in to the waist and reveals the muffin top. Comfort - The fabric is slick, similar to the most activewear fabric in the market. I like how the legging hugs my body and provides muscles support. As long as I don't have the drawstring tighten, it is comfortable to wear for long period of time. Yvette Shift Light Icon High Support Legging is a basic legging that covers needs for various activities though the drawstring waist design is less desirable for yoga. The sleek fabric is medium compression, four-way stretch, and sweat wicking. Wearing a black legging avoids showing sweat stains and creates a slim look. With that said, I recommend Shift Light Legging (for yoga) and Shift Light High Waist High Support Legging (for high impact workouts) instead of this one because you can get two leggings for the same price.
